WARNING - Blue Bean Credit Cards - Standard Bank
I held a Blue Bean Card credit card at Standard bank for many years. In August 2017 i received an email informing me of the closing of the Blue Bean card division itself and that the Blue Bean credit card will be changed to a Gold Credit Card at Standard bank. I called the Blue Bean division of Standard Bank and informed them that i already have a Standard Bank Gold Credit card and that they must incorporate the outstanding amount on the Blue Bean Card on my existing Standards Bank Gold Credit Card. I requested that the Blue Bean Card then be cancelled as it will be of no use to me any longer. Between 11 September and 10 October 2017 the outstanding amount from my Blue Bean Card was transferred to my Standard bank Gold Credit Card. I was under the impression that this matter was settled. I started receiving sms that my account has been handed over for collection and when phoning Standard bank they cannot help me and keep on referring me from one department to the other. I finally got hold of the collections department and they informed me of the following: I had a BlueBean Accident Protection Plan that was debited from my Blue bean card on a monthly basis. Apparently the blue bean account was not cancelled or closed when the debt was transferred from the Blue Bean account to the Standard Bank's side and this policy keeps on going although there was no funds available.
Now MDR - Standard Bank insurance brokers, claims that i owe them an outstanding amount that has not been honored by the Blue Bean card for about 3 - 4 Months.
This was a fault on Standard Bank Card divisions side and I'm not responsible for their negligence. The Blue Bean Credit Card was closed and cancelled when the transfer of Debt took place, as far as i'm concerned and if Standard bank did not cancel the account, then they, themselves should be held responsible for this outstanding amount.
