Unfairly paid costs as Standard Bank changes debit date from 15 to 13 April without advising me in advance to make funds available.

My policy debit order runs on the 15th monthly. On 13 April 2020; Standard Bank decided to change the date without advising me and I don’t understand the reason. I always make it a point that there are funds in my account on the date that I nominated for the debit order. As a result of this, ABSA has charged me R50 for not honoring the debit order. Is this fair? I called the bank and registered my displeasure and I was told to await details to which I had to email my statement. To date; I haven’t been furnished with such email address. As far as I’m concerned, costs incurred should be the responsibility of Standard Bank. R50 charged by ABSA; telephone costs for a call that took ages; data costs for this review; my driving costs to get the stupid bank statement during lockdown. Please advise.

Why was I made to email a bank statement as evidence of bank charges for the debit order that was not honoured; yet Standard Bank personnel knew bee well that nothing was going to be done with that.

****ed of for being made a fool. No response to my email from 29 April 2020.

Is this a message that the bank needs another review or Ombudsman’ intervention?
