Unauthorised policy sale

I sent a mail to Standard Bank on 20 Jult 2016 at 20:59 PM explaining my situation:

"Good day,

We recently took out a home loan with Standard Bank.

In all the documents that we signed with the bond attorneys, Fairbridges Wertheim Attorneys, we were very clear that we are taking out life and structural insurance with Ooba. Ooba policy documents were also attached to the legal documents.

On 19 July 2016 at 14:21, a gentleman phoned me from 012 ********** regarding the structural insurance that we apparently took out with Standard Bank. I immediately made it very clear that we HAVE NOT taken out any insurance with Standard Bank and have taken out our structural insurance with Ooba. The Standard Bank representative proceeded to ask me why we decided to go with Ooba and not Standard Bank. I explained that Ooba was cheaper and hence our decision to take out the policy with them. I then requested the representative to send me COSTS for structural insurance with Standard Bank, so that we can do a price comparison.

Following that discussion, I received an invoice and policy schedule (which is a “contract” between us and Standard Bank according to the policy document).

This is either an error by the Standard Bank sales representative or a highly ********* sales method, ******* to say the least, as we DID NOT CONCENT to any structural insurance with Standard Bank.

We request that you send us confirmation within one business day that the policy has been cancelled and that we will not be charged for any structural insurance from Standard Bank.

We trust that you will resolve this as a matter of urgency."

I received a read receipt from "Thusi, Karabo K" on 21 July 2016 at 10:10, but still no response.

This is appaling, especially considering the nature and urgency of my complaint. I trust that another Standard Bank represntative will be ablle to resolve this matter as it is our first time dealing with Standard Bank, and it has indeed not been a good start.

16 business days has now passed with no feedback from Standard Bank on this matter. This is highly unprofessional.
If I do not get feedback on this matter by COB tomorrow, we will have no choice but to report this to the Ombudsman for Short-Term Insurance.
