Unacceptable Service on Storm Damage Claim
I am writing to express my extreme frustration and disappointment with the lack of progress and poor communication regarding my storm damage claim, which I lodged over a month ago.
Despite numerous attempts to get feedback, I have received nothing but excuses. For the past week, I have called their office daily, only to be given a different excuse each time. Today’s excuse—that I don’t have receipts for maintenance done over the past seven years—is completely unacceptable.
Seven years ago, I logged a similar claim, which was rejected. I fixed everything out of my own pocket and did not anticipate needing to retain receipts for that maintenance after such a long time. Furthermore, the photos from the claim seven years ago are vastly different from the current situation, clearly showing how the problem has worsened over time.
To make matters worse, the ongoing rain is exacerbating the damage, and each day without action adds to the severity. It feels like my concerns are being dismissed simply because the decision-makers are not experiencing the problem themselves.
Now, they want to send a roof specialist for a second opinion because they claim they cannot rely on the first service provider they sent. This raises serious doubts about their credibility—if they can’t trust the service providers they choose, how can customers trust them to handle claims fairly?
After decades of loyalty to Standard Bank, with multiple accounts and years of business, I am deeply disheartened. It’s clear that they do not value their customers or their longstanding relationships. If I had the financial means to pay off my bond, I would terminate all ties with Standard Bank immediately.
This experience has shown me that Standard Bank does not prioritize their customers or their needs. I cannot recommend their insurance services to anyone.
