Unable to buy another vehicle!

Both me and my wife's, vehicles are insured with Standard Bank Insurance. One has been written off and Standard Bank payed out, to my surprise about 2 weeks after the vehicle was assessed.

They deducted the usual excess ect from the total which included the settlement amount for the vehicle to the financial provider who I had the loan with. Seeing that I now had cash to pay as a deposit, I started looking at buying another vehicle. After two weeks of searching a found a vehicle within my budget and ask the dealer to apply for a loan to cover the outstanding amount.

They app**** for financial assistance at a few banks and my application was turned down. Reason being that I still had a vehicle loan that I needed to settle and this was showing on my ITC record.

I approached the finance institution who financed the written off vehicle, only to find out that the balance of the loan had not been settled by Standard Bank Insurance, and because of that I was now falling into areas on the account which I stopped paying with the idea that Standard Bank Insurance had settled the account.

As a result my credit record is being tarnished and I am unable to buy another vehicle. It's been two months now and Standard Bank Insurance, after phone calls and emails have been unable to provide me with any proof that they settled my outstanding balance on the written off vehicle.

I thought car insurance was suppose to help you obtain a vehicle in at least the same condition of the vehicle that you had insured. Standard Bank Insurance does exactly that, but ruins your credit record in the process.

Think twice before you insure with them.
