THIS HAS BEEN THE WORST SERVICE I HAVE YET EXPERIENCED

I wish I could give a -50 rating!

After being sent around in circles trying unsuccessfully to register a claim to replace my rusty geyser, I finally had to replace it at my own cost when water started running out of my light fittings early one morning.

Because I no longer needed to book your contractor to replace the geyser, I was now able to register the claim online, but waited a month before there was ANY communication—and then the communication only happened after registering a complaint online.

Suddenly, after the complaint, I received a text confirmation of the claim being registered that day (1 month after my initial registering of the claim online ).

After receiving the notification that the claim had now been registered, I received a text from an Elaine, telling me that she would be assisting me—no contact details were given.

On the same day, I also received two other text messages telling me who the assessors would be. The assessors were great. They responded on the same day and the assessment was done within a couple of days.

No further communication from Elaine.

I then registered a second complaint online.

Suddenly Elaine tried to call, but I was not able to take her calls at that time. She sent an email telling me she had tried to call, and stated the reason for her call. She asked that I return her call, but did not provide a contact number.

If Elaine's the person who supposed to be assisting me, what's the point of calling the general Customer Services and speaking to a different consultant?

However, not having any other contact number I called the customer service line, but eventually had to terminate the call because of the high-call volume.

So instead of talking to her, I rep**** to Elaine's email, answering her question that she posed in the email, confirming that I was not claiming any other damages other than the geyser replacement, and asked her to call me if there was anything else she wanted to know.

I have not heard a word from her or, anyone else, since that email.

I have lodged a third complaint online, but there has been no response to this.

It is now a full month since the assessors were at my home, and two months since the claim was registered.

This morning I went onto your website to see the status of my claim, only to find that there is now a new website and I had to first re-register onto that site as my login details were no longer valid for this new site, not to mention the list of arb questions before being granted access to my account.

On finally gaining access to my policy, I notice there are now NO CLAIM DETAILS on my account?? WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO MY CLAIM?

And assuming the claim has not been lost in transit, WHEN IS THIS CLAIM FINALLY GOING TO BE FINALIZED?? Claims normally take around 24 hours before being paid out—I have been now been waiting 2 MONTHS!

I have to say this has been the worst service I have yet experienced, especially in the light of the fact that this is only the second claim in decades of being a client.

It's a poor show. And please don't blame covid.

Do you even read the complaints that are sent?

If so, what part of " I have not heard a word from her or, anyone else, since that email. " do you not understand?

You are asking for THE "signed Agreement of Loss"; if it had been sent to me in the first place, then I could sign it and send it back.

Please send me this form so that we can get this finalized.

Okay, so the email arrived, but now I am even more angry! You are wanting to settle this claim by giving me a little more than half of my claim!

I am not happy to sign this document!

I want to know why you are only offering 63% of the total claimed less the excess?

I have been a client for almost 20 years, and only claimed on one other occasion, 12 years ago. This other claim was also for a geyser, and the full cost of that geyser was covered, apart from the excess. And now you want to offer me 63%?

And this on top of the ********** service I have received for you?

I just want to comment on the so-called replies from Standard Bank Insurance that, I assume, are meant to improve their image as a company who responds to complaints on Hello Peter.

Just because they send a message to say they have rep**** 'Privately', does not mean they have actually rep****. The private message is simply a message saying someone WILL reply at some stage.

It has now 5 days since I received the last 'private' message telling me that somebody would contact me, and NO contact has been made to date.

It was I who eventually made contact with the person who had sent the "signed Agreement of Loss" form. I made contact to find out why they were charging me double the excess amount that is stated on my policy documents.

This person forwarded my email to SIL Policy Admin. That was on the morning of the 20th. It is now the afternoon of the 22nd and I have heard not a word from this company, despite my sending a second email yesterday asking for feedback on progress.

I am appalled at the level of non-communication, and non-service from this organization..

So what happened yesterday is that my email was forwarded to yet another person, after which I was sent a copy of my Policy Certificate—what was the point of this? I already have a copy of the Policy Certificate, and I sent a copy to you as proof that I have been overcharged for the Excess on my claim.
What I require from you is:
  1. To change the Agreement of Loss form by changing the current Excess charge of R2500.00 to the correct Excess charge of R 1250.00 (as it appears on the Policy certificate you yourself have sent me).
  2. Then send me the Updated Agreement of Loss form so that I can sign it and we can finalize this claim.

It's not complicated.

I would like to wrap up this very negative review with a positive word of thanks to the following people :
  • Rifiloe Mathonkha
  • Danelle
  • Matshieiso
  • Nasiphi Dlongwana
  • Beatrice Miya
  • The person who received and processed my signed Agreement of Loss Form
  • The Person who processed my Payment
  • And Yvonne who assisted me with a query this morning.

Thank you, all of you, for each part you played in finalizing this claim. You are each a great asset to your employer, and I appreciate each one of you.

May each of you have a blessed 2022, and may you each reach the levels of greatness for which you desire.

Kind Regards,
Rene
