The worst customer service I have had in my life.
I have car insurance with Std. Bank Insurance Brokers. The car door lock and ignition were damaged in an attempted theft. It took 3 weeks for the damage to be fixed, including 2 weeks to assess the damage. For a couple of locks. What if it had been worse? How long would that have taken? Then, instead of using an approved centre near me, as they said they would, they sent it to Wynberg. I live in Woodstock. No consideration for how i was to get it back. I had to organise for them to fetch me.
When I picked up the car, I discovered the handbrake was damaged. It wasn't retracting properly. They supposedly contacted SBIB to report it, as did I the next day, because I had also discovered that it is actually partly on all the time. So I have had to use the car with the handbrake engaged. For weeks now.
Plus the insult to the injury is that there was theft involved too. The car was cleaned out. Of many CD's, chargers, umbrellas, etc. Over R2k in value to replace. Stupid me, I guess, for thinking approved assessment centres and repairers would be above board. Clearly not.
I have had to chase the repair process many times throughout, as they just don't seem to be interested in getting anything fixed or resolved, like it just doesn't matter that I do not have transport for weeks.
I have never, not once, been able to talk to a team leader / manager. This despite two emails to their complaints department with the email chain of the "process". Despite having lodged a complaint with the Short-term Insurance Ombuds. I am, right now, on hold again, hoping to talk to a manager. 27 min in and I'm still waiting to be passed on to one. How much time and money has it cost me waiting on the phone? So I have just got through to a manager. +-8th time lucky? They are dealing with the Ombuds now as I had registered a complaint. But no-one informed me of that.
So I continue to wait and see what transpires. But, in the meantime, the handbrake cannot be fixed until the Ombuds have reached a decision. So I have to continue driving like this for another 2 weeks, probably.
