The ATM swallowed my cash deposit!

I returned from the bank, where I attempted to make a cash deposit. Unfortunately, the bank swallowed my cash deposit, with no confirmation or receipt. Here are the details.

Amount: R1500
Time : 15 february 2017, 08h30pm
ATM Location: Sancadia ATMs outside Arcadia branch
1st Reference used: ********** 595

2st reference used: ********** 107

Account number deposited into: ********** 4512
Contact Number supp****: ********** 243
Description of event:

I clicked cardless transactions
I clicked Deposit
I keyed in the account number
I keyed in the reference
I keyed in my contact number
A slot then popped open, which I put R1500 into. it began counting the money then brought out R1300 and gave me an option if i want to re insert the notes. i clicked that option and reinserted the R1300. It sucked the money in a little bit, but then appeared to be stuck. I then begun gently pushing and pulling the notes. Eventually, the machine reported an error: "Notes were retracted", or something alike. However, at that exact point, the machine started accepting the money into the slot, note by note. At the end, instead of being showed a confirmation and being allowed to print a receipt, I was instead taken back to the home screen; the machine looked like it had before I begun using it. It was as if nothing at all had happened. There was no receipt printed.

i went to report the incident at the branch. the assured me that i will get my refund within 7 days (22 February 2017) after they finish investigations. to my shock on the 22nd they then tell me they can only refund R200 . how can i eccept R200 while i know the ATM swallowed R1500. they informed me that they will escalate it then they issued me with a new due date and a second reference number on which i will have to wait even longer with no guruntee what so ever.

This is obviously highly inconvenient and traumatic. The ATM should have at least returned my money. I am certain the fault is not my own, as I am fami**** with this kind of technology, having used it several times in the past.

How is one supposed to trust Standard Bank and its technology after an experience like this?
