Terrible service, even when cancelling

I have been trying to call Std bank to cancel my credit card. it has been a nightmare. I was provided a settlement account sometime last week and i paid the amount, and i was told to call the next day. When i call the next day, i am told the debit order hasn't cleared. Why i wasn't told about the debit order clearing, your guess is as good as mine. I am then advised to call on 20/01/2020. I call and i am told my debit order was received, but its not yet áuthorised'' on the actual credit card. I asked to speak to a TL, i was told they are busy. I was then offered an option to be called back after the 5 days (for the settlement amount). i do not trust that they will not put an interest on 0.00. zero customer service, different information provided, cnt even escalate a matter. Sonwabo did try to sort out the issue a call back reference number: ***. lets see if this warranties as response and resolution. all i want to do as cancel my credit card!!
