Standardbank insurance

So we bough our house back in 2020 through standardbank. We also have our home content aswell as home structure insurance with them. I have been a loyal client of standardbank for the past 19 years. So our ceiling totally collapsed in the living room area and we immediately phoned standardbank for the claim. We struggled for almost 2 weeks to get an assessor out... After that.. The claim was declined due to "bad workmanship" according to them. So the main reasons for the claim being declined... Different ceiling boards was used in the ceiling, the brandering are different spaces away from each other and the *****s that was used in the ceiling was incorrect! So as a client of standardbank insurance... They want you as the home owner to see through paint and boards that different boards were used (don't know how you are supposed to see that) and you are supposed to go inside your roof and measure the brandering (which we also have no knowledge about) and by the way.. The house was build +- 60 years back... And was signed off through a contractor back then. So now a house build so long back have to correlate with new building specs set up by an insurance company. So thanks to them.. We have been sitting with an open ceiling since 26 november 2022 and went through like this in Christmas. The weather was hectic that mentioned weekend and we are sure the wind and rain had a hand in the ceiling falling. Cause due to bad workmanship according to them.. The ceiling would have most definitely shown signs of this!! But standardbank just keeps full in their nonsense reason about bad workmanship just not to pay out a claim. We also spoke to alot of people who also said that they refused ro pay out their claims. According to statistics 80% of standardbank claims are declined due fo nonsense reasons!! So be aware NOT to insure with them! You are going to have to pay for claims out of your own pocket while they ***** your money each and every month.
