Standardbank home insurance useless, seek alternatives

Due to heavy rains in and around Gauteng , paving along my drive way has become loose. It's the first time in 11 years that I have experienced this degradation in said paving.

I made a claim with Standardbank home insurance and their assessor claims the damage is due to poor workmanship and therefore not covered by the policy.

So for 11 years the paving has remained intact, which by all accounts would suggest anything but poor workmanship.

Standardbank appears to simply be reluctant to payout on claims, preferring to take the default approach of maximizing profits at the expense of their clientele.

Of course they fully entitled to decline the claim as am I to seek insurance elsewhere.

You've been warned. They're a company that has well and truly earned their dismal 2.2/10 HPI. It's more of a risk to insure with them than it is not to insure at all.
