Standard Insurance sucks

I recently filled in a claim with standard Insurance for a leak in my roof and for a broken toilet basin.

My premium with them amounts to +-R7000 monthly.

The cover is for our main home at plot 20, Elandsdrift.

Standard sent a plumber who said they will quote on the toilet but can’t quote on the roof leak as it’s going to need a leak expert.

When the leak expert came with his equipment he could not explain where the leak came from but was able to say that standard insurance would not cover the leak.

I called my broker and she confirmed that standard does not cover leaking pipes.

This was my first claim after paying my premiums over the last 3 to 4 years. I bought the home insurance for events such as these and never once in our relationship did Standard insurance reveal to me what the exceptions are.

The plumber who had indicated that he will quote standard insurance on the toilet has since gone underground.

I have sent WhatsApp messages to my broker about the above and she simply ignored my messages.

This very disappointing of standard insurance especially considering I Bank at Standard for the last 30 years and I bought my house more than 20 years using a loan from Standard Bank.

Disappointing!
