Standard Bank worst insurer ever
We have home insurance wit Standard Bank, I logged a claim 17/02/2022, for a tree that's is on our neighbors property, on our boundary, and the roots of the tree is keeping us from starting to build. Assessors came out and took pictures and I explained to them, the roots of the tree will cause issues in the long run. No body came back to us, I called Standard bank today 2/03/2022 only to find out the claim was rejected. Why I have no idea, I am planning on moving our insurance from Standard Bank, cause clearly this should have been a prevention claim.

Good day Mrs Cassim
This email serves to acknowledge receipt of your complaint and thank you for bringing it to our attention. We apologies for the drop in service levels you experienced. Please note that we will investigate and review the matter in order to resolve it as quickly as possible. Our normal turnaround time is 8 days for resolution however this will vary due to the COVID-19 impact on business operations. We will unfortunately be working away from the office and will communicate via emails.
We have engaged the claims department and understand that the tree is not in your yard hence why the claim was cancelled. we only cover you for what is in your property. It will be your responsibility to engage the neighbors to remove the tree. This would be deemed a civil matter that insurance are not able to assist with.
We trust you find the above well and will be closing the complaint on our side.
