Standard Bank “Serious Illness” Life Insurance is really not serious

If you intend to join Standard Bank Life Insurance, then think twice. You can consider other banks like ABSA that are quite efficient in their processes in this regard. They are not as fast as Standard Bank claims to be, in general and from their slogan too : “ Simple, Better, Faster”.

I submitted the claim for Serious Illness cover- Cancer to be precise, with all the medical records provided.. After a long wait (3 months) patiently, I was told that, the panel will meet and make a decision. After their meeting happened, then I have been told that the pane is requesting the medical record from my regular doctor, of which I had already submitted that medical record in their stipulated Standard Bank form, with the initial pack that was submitted with the claim. They also want the membership number for my previous Medical Aid. . I am like thinking to myself, is this what qualifies the panel not to make a final decision on a “Serious Illness” claim with all the evidence in place? I have been a Standard Bank client since my youth from university, and have known them for their efficient services, but this kind of service currently is nothing close to being efficient, especially on a critical matter like “Serious Illness”.
