Standard Bank ******* Insurance Claim Department

<p>Just had the worst ever experiance with Standard Bank Insurance claim department. I have a Standard Bank bond and took out the insurance with them just over two years back. I was effected by the terrible storm we had a few weeks back as so many others especially in Cape Town. My backyard wall was damaged by strong gail-force winds that my neighbour and i battled to keep up using wooden poles. I logged my claim (17/044418) and that was the last i heard from them in three weeks. I contacted the contractor ( D&P Building Services ) they use in Cape Town who send out an assesor who forwarded them pictures including a quote and a discription of what he saw. Thereafter nothing just absolutely nothing, not Standard Bank or their supplier bothered contacting me. I started calling them to hear what was happening and was send from pillar to post and eventually asked to speak with a manager who you could hear wasn't interested in what i had to say because i waited quite a few minutes between speaking to the lady i spoke to (Std Bnk:Chantelle) and her manager. She just just repeated everything to me and made it clear Standard Bank will not authorise my claim and will simply send me a letter explaining why. I then asked for them to cancel my policy and was asked why i want to do that. I simply told them that they are aservice provider who without fault every month take my money and the one time i need them in actual fact the very first claim i ever logged with Standard Bank they refused to be a service provider to me. It took a super storm a storm Cape Town hasnt seen in more then ten years for me to put in a claim. Now they come up with so many reidiculous reason why the cant pay out like the ground level is not the same on the outside as in the in side of my property. (Note : the ground level of the outside of my property is maintained by the local council, not me). I am now busy looking at other insurance company who can provide me a better service, no not a better service who can simply provide me with a fair service and not try and wiggle their way out of helping their paying customers. </p>
