Standard bank - moving backwards!

<p>So after 12 years living in the same house, paying my building insurance every month, only claimed once for a geyser 4 years ago, I today received the most pathetic, useless service from one of STB's assesors. With yesterdays storms and flooding and last weeks heavy rains my house started leaking last week and completed flooded yesterday inside with rain coming down the walls, through the ceilings etc. The first comment he made was that they might not do repairs because of "maintenance" and that the water came in because the gutter was filled with pine tree leaves. I pointed out to him that EVERY time we have bad weather the gutters are filled with leaves from those trees. I then showed him my backyard gutter which is clean and maintained as is the front but because of the storm the front one filled up extremely quick(my backyard has 2 pine trees in, and the front only 1). So are STB's assesors trained to search for problems? Cause while he was there that was the ONLY impression I got. He also told me "if" they were to repair my ceiling it would only be the living/dining area that they would fix, I then pointed out to him my WHOLE house is open plan how could they possibly only do that one piece, his response: Thats the only place where the ceiling was damaged! Because of the last 2 weeks rain my couter tops are swelling bad, I showed this to him and he said only if they decide to accept my claim they will have someone else come out to look at the kitchen counter tops.I also showed him how rain came inside my bedroom where I dont EVEN have gutters and in my living room where I also dont have any gutters so what is the excuse for this? As im sitting here theres no visiable leaks anywhere inside my house so why is it not flooding today or ANY other rainy days?Walking on my roof shows its maintained and in good order.I will not leave this here and to anyone reading this save youself alot of trouble and use ohter building insurance that will actually fix your problems rather than take your money for 12 years and come to your house and search for problems! Pathetic!</p>
