Standard Bank Insurance totally heartless.

Right, short and sweet. A huge tree growing on the sidewalk in front of our property caused structural damage to the boundary wall. Ekurhuleni Council Parks department came and chopped the tree wall height, as the wall would have collapsed if they removed it completely. The fight continues with the coucil aswell. 13 April, the wall collapsed onto the sidewalk. On a public holiday, during stage 5 lockdown. Right, so where to now? Phoned the emergency assistance department at Standard Bank asking for help. Got a ref nr. So the back and forward episode started. Lockdown in our property, gashing hole in the wall, and the electric fence destroyed, no security, no sleep, not secure and not safe!!. Standard bank then sent a builder to assess after a couple of days, he deemed our claim valid, but an assessor had to be appointed. This never happened. Another week goes by, another follow up call. Another answer to an assessor that needs to be appointed, and never happened. Another week goes by, another follow-up call just to be told the policy doesn't cover trees that cause structural damage. Ony trees that fall over onto walls are covered. A tree on a side walk is not my problem or fault either .I get that. The problem I have is, these are such extraordinary uncertain times. You can't do anything, get anything whereas the banks have emergency contractors. Why was I so naive to think that maybe the insurer would have taken the circumstances into account. Nice going, and thanks for not caring.
