Standard Bank Insurance is the most appalling company I have ever dealt with.

They appoint their contractors on an "Uber Taxi" system. They send out a insurance claim SMS and the first contractor to pick it up gets to do the assessment and job. The contractors they have on their system are useless!

We have an outstanding hail damage to the roof going back to November 2017. They appointed a contractor who sealed the roof with some sort of roof sealant. A year later we had another storm and the roof started leaking again. They sent out a company to asses the roof and the company reported back the roof pitch was incorrect and the contractor who was appointed by Standard Bank Insurance should never have painted the roof.

the claim was rejected and a year of correspondence with the Ombudsman it was also overturned despite sending five reports from contractors we got to asses the roof. All stated the work done by the appointed contractor was done incorrectly. Final word from the Ombudsman "If we want to take this further we would need to consult with an attorney"

To this day, each time it rains we have to place buckets to catch the water leaks.

Most recent was a burst geyser that happened on 13th November 2020. They sent 3 assessors for the geyser and 1 for the ceiling replacement. 2 of the first assessors declined the job and the 3rd we did not want to use so we took a pay out option. This delay left us with no hot water for 2 weeks.

The ceiling assessor that was appointed came and took measurements for the ceiling work to be done. On Monday 30th November he arrived at 11am. He did not bring enough ceiling board and no 1/4 round trimming and had to leave to go purchase this. He completed the work at 1830!!! the size of the ceiling was only 3.5 x 095 meters. We now have paint and ladder scratch marks on the passage wall.

I sent a mail the same evening logging our complains along with photographs to Standard Bank Insurance.
