Standard bank Insurance for Extended Warranty are Dishonest and *******

I submitted a claim via the dealership where my vehicle's engine to be repaired. The claim was rejected stating the 'Client cannot afford shortfall'. This was just an assumption made by the insurer as I was not contacted to find out if I can afford the shortfall.

Further the insurer should have been aware that once a dealership strips the engine, it is Toyota's policy that they will not put it back together so you have to pay for the work that has been done.

I have been without a vehicle now for 3 weeks. This is quite disappointing -the extended warranty that I have taken 8/9 years ago with Standard bank Insurance was not a problem for taking my money each month - however when a claim is made i am told i don't have money to pay for any shortfalls.

My policy clearly states that the components of the engine is cover up to an amount of R 18 000.00 - so i was not expecting the insurance to pay anymore than this amount. I have phoned the consumer care i have been on the line with numerous people for over 15 minutes - i am just been transferred to and fro - and finally the call was dropped.

I am not sure who to speak to now before i contact Consumer Watch or the Ombudsman.
