Standard bank insurance fail

<p>On the 23rd September we lodged a claim (Ref 16/077219) with Standard bank insurance regarding a leak we had in the bathroom we just had redone. Aprroximately a week later, Leak Tech was sent to come and do a leak detection test. After two days had passed I called the call centre to advise that the leak detection people were here and still nothing has been done. They then sent the plumbers to repair the leak. Again, two days passed and i decided to call again. An assessor was sent out (Shakier from MS Wilson Builders), to assess damages and photograpgh the extent thereof.</p> <p>We then explained to Shakier that we had just had the bathroom redone and we know we wont be able to get the same tiles and mosaics, as the current tiles and mosaics has been discontinued. He then explained to us that we could get a similar tile or mosaic which he will do a section of approximately 1 square meter so it looks like a sort of feature in the shower, to which we then agreed.</p> <p>After a few days Rushdeya from MS Wilson Builders contacted us, to inform us that the claim has been approved excess of R500 was needed in order to buy the materials required for the job. We were also instructed to visit a tile store to pick out mosaics or tiles of our choice and just send them the codes. We were informed that that we had to go because they would be held liable if they purchase the incorrect tiles and we are not happy. I then spent a whole day driving up and down looking for something suitable.</p> <p>We contacted Rushdeya and enquired whether we couldn't replace the said section with mirror tiles instead. She got back to us the next day to explain that it would be too expensive to do this as the mirror tiles needed to be specially treated for the shower. We then found a similar mosaic to the original, however it was smaller that the original ones.</p> <p>In our latest telephone conversation, Rushdeya claims that they not able to replace the 1 square meter section we agreed on with Shakier because the gap is less than a square meter. MS Wilson Builders now wants to replace a small section in an L shape with a different mosaic.</p> <p> </p> <p>I have been with Standard Bank Insurance for approximately five years. My insurance premium is approximately R1250/month. Which means that I've paid approximately R75000 to Standard Bank Insurance. And this has been my first claim. I am not impressed with the service i have experienced. Should i not recieve the service that i expect then i will definately be changing my insurance provider in the near future. </p>
