Standard Bank Insurance disaster

Do not even think of taking insurance with Standard Bank as you will definitely regret it. By day 3 of a burst geyser, I had no other choice but to contact a plumber and pay for it myself just to be able to have warm water again. The claim was registered and logged, but due to processes (they had to wait for the manufacturer as it was still under guarantee) they have no insight into the manufacturer's turnaround time and therefore cannot confirm when the geyser will be repaired. This after their own registered plumbers installed the same geyser 2 and half years ago, causing our entire home to flood and all the ceilings having to be replaced three times over a span of 3 months! Trying to escalate the matter and the automated reply is that they will respond in 48 to 72 hours only..... Worst service and experience!

Thank you for the automated response. However, the automated email response says that the matter will be attended to between 48 and 72 hours. That adds another 2 to 3 days of waiting for the insurance to attend to a burst geyser. Having an insurance policy and paying a monthly premium specifically for these types of situations and then having to wait for days to get someone to actually look into this? For this reason, I can say that Standard Bank Insurance is definitely not a product that I can recommend to anyone.

I have not had any response or feedback other than the banking ombuds department contacting me and saying they will refer this to the insurance ombudsman. Other than that, except for my phone calls and being told that someone will contact me each time. My advice for anyone would be not even to consider Standard Bank Insurance. If you look at the Hello Peter reviews, plenty of other customers have similar experiences, and the reviews speak for themselves.
