STANDARD BANK INSURANCE DISAPPOINTS...BIG TIME!
I lodged a claim with Standard Bank Insurance for 2 fallen trees due to a natural disaster. The one tree fell over my pool, the other breaking a wall on my property. Standard Bank Insurance, after giving me the runatound, have now advised that they will pay R2k for tree-felling on account that their policy schedule provides that they pay a maximum of R2k "to remove any tree that has fallen and damaged the Insured property". The wording is in the singular and i have 2 trees to remove. Ths reasonable interpretation is that any tree is 1 tree.
If it read: 'any trees that have fallen" the meaning and intepretation would be different. The current quotations on the work range between R4k and R5k. One-and-a-half months later, i still sit with a monstrosity in my yard - 2 very big fallen trees! My pool has turned black as no cleaning can happen and fallen wall has not been rebuilt due to the trees obstructing them. All interactions with the Standard Bank Insurance will always be on your initiative - they will not call you, update you on your claim.... Absolutely nothing!!!!!! And everytime you call the consultants tell you different stories. Worst service ever! And to think i have been with Standard Bank all my life! Sies!
