Standard bank insurance claim refusal

Good day. I have a house content insurance policy with standard bank insurance. So I have a Tumble dryer and a 13kg top loader washing machine included on this policy. My Tumble dryer motor has seized and stopped working. My washing machine operation function is not working. I contacted standard insurance for assistance. With many to and fro's the assessors was at the house to check the appliances. They said the motor on Tumble dryer is burnt. The washing machine they say that me must try using only 1 function and the springs is busted. But from the time they assessed the appliances the washing is dead duck. No one of standard bank insurance came back to me after the assessors was there, because I always had to check up with them(standard bank insurance) on how far the process is. After numerous calls to them(standard bank insurance), they now tell me that my policy don't cover mechanical failure. How is this. I insured all my internal contents on inception of this insurance. And all this minute detail was not explained. Now when I want them to assist me, now I get the back hand. I really think this is poor business ethicate. So I am told to first repair or replace the 2 appliances that I am claiming for, so in the future if I do claim again for these 2 appliances that they will grant the claim. How does even make sense. Standard bank insurance don't want to pay out now for the claim, but they want me to pay out my pocket for the appliances claimed, then they will assist me next time. Pls help me I'm confused.
