Standard bank insurance

"I strongly advise against using Standard Bank Insurance. My experience with them has been deeply disappointing. They seem to undermine their clients by consistently delaying and failing to finalize claims. We purchase insurance to have peace of mind, knowing that damages will be repaired when they occur. However, with Standard Bank Insurance, it feels like they only want your premiums—they’re reluctant to provide actual assistance when it’s needed.

The process of lodging a claim with them is frustrating and time-consuming. Instead of helping, they create more stress. I would not recommend Standard Bank Insurance to anyone looking for reliable coverage. Avoid this company if you want prompt support and fair treatment during the claims process."

Reviewer Update

“I would never recommend Standard Bank Insurance. They have completely wasted my time, undermined my rights to claim, and shown a complete lack of respect for their clients. I lodged a claim on 21 October 2024, and while an assessor was appointed on 22 October, the process quickly became frustrating and disorganized. The assessor initially tried to postpone our appointment on 23 October, but I insisted they stick to the agreed time. After they finally came and assessed the damages, I was promised that the report would reach Standard Bank Insurance by Friday, 25 October. However, the report was only submitted on 29 October.
On 30 October, Patrick told me my claim would be finalized by 1 November, but I was also informed by Sfiso that my claim handler had changed from Ayanda Mpili to Joyce Bucibo, with Siyanda Sibiya as the internal assessor. Neither Joyce nor Siyanda reached out to update me on my claim. When I asked Sfiso to connect me with a team leader, Maggie assured me that an internal assessor would make a follow-up appointment, but no one called.
After waiting, I had to contact them again around 4 pm. I spoke with Refilwe, who contacted Mr. Sibiya, only to tell me that the assessor doesn’t work weekends and would come on Monday. It’s beyond frustrating that they would expect someone from Gauteng to travel to Durban without even coordinating with me, the claimant.
To make matters worse, more damages were found after the initial assessment, but I can’t get the claim handler or internal assessor to update my claim with these additional damages. This, of course, will just lead to further delays. Even after Maggie, the team leader, promised to follow up, nothing has been done.
This company treats its clients as if they’re doing us a favor by handling our claims. Our government needs to intervene and hold these companies accountable for such unprofessional behavior. We need to expose Standard Bank Insurance and warn others of their disrespectful, irresponsible service. People deserve to know what they’re getting into with this insurance provider.
