Standard Bank Insurance Brokers and Standard Bank Failure To Communicate
I was retrenched on 8 June 2020, my money started running out in August, so I decided it was time to submit a claim to Standard Bank Insurance Brokers (SBIB) in respect of my Credit Life policies on all my loan accounts.
The first problem I encountered was that according to the information I could find on the internet, I had to actually go into a branch to submit a claim (such fun for all during lockdown). So I did just that and on 27 August 2020, went into Standard Bank Key West and Submitted a claim with all necessary documentation attached (at that time I was informed by the branch that I hadn't needed to go into a branch to submit a claim). These claims were in respect of my Credit Card, RCA and Overdraft.
Sometime between 27 August and 8 September I received a phone call from SBIB advising that the code on my UIF form indicated a dismissal not a retrenchment and that based on that they couldn't pay my claims in spite of the fact that I had attached my Mutual Separation agreement. I advised that person that I would contact my ex-employer to correct the form, which I did.
On 11 September 2020 I sent the corrected UIF form to SBIB, I have subsequently followed up with them on 30 October, 26 November and today. And still no feedback.
In the meantime Standard Bank Card Division started phoning me because I could no longer pay my installments on my credit card and in spite of repeatedly telling them that I am waiting for SBIB to settle my Credit Life Claims, they have handed me over to attorneys. I have gotten to the point that I no longer answer their or their attorneys phone calls as I view them as harassment, how many times do I have to tell them that I am waiting for SBIB to pay them? They take the whole silo mentality to a new level.
Between SBIB and Standard Bank Card Division I am ready to pull my hair out. As if I don't have enough stress being unemployed and wondering where I am going to find money to survive I have to have my bank on my back because SBIB has not done anything to pay out my claims for 3 months.
Like a whole lot of other customers who have posted on Hello Peter regarding this illustrious organisation, that I have been a customer of in excess of 30 years, once I am financially on my feet, you can be sure I will be moving my accounts to another institution.
