Standard Bank Insurance: An Unsatisfied Customer
At the end of April,I logged in a claim with Standard Bank Insurance for storm related damages. After numerous calls and emails I was told that it would be easier and faster to find my own contractors. Which I tried to do but was unable to find a plumber and a builder. On the 27th of June after numerous calls and emails to Standard Bank insurance, they finally assigned Phahama Projects to my premises to sort out all building damages. No Plumber was assigned.
On the 3rd of August Phahama Project started working on the damages on my property. I was completely disappointed with the workmanship and their employees' behavior. I can not believe that a huge organisation like Standard Bank has such unprofessional contractors. On Wednesday an employee of Phahama Projects painted the back of my 3 months old smart TV, they also leaked paint on to my couch, they even used their fingers to plaster my ceiling boards with rhinolite which they then painted over, leaving the surface uneven and lumpy, the main house roof leaks where patch at a late hour which was near dark, i can not understand how they were able to see what they where doing, unfortunately i have to now wait for the next storm to check how the job was done, there was also job left undone. Apart from the employees incopertance , the appalling part of it all,was that I was subjected to seeing an employee of Phahama Projects urinating in my front yard, fortunately I was the one who witnessed this and not my 9 years old daughter.Phahama Projects did return to complete their job the next day but was not successful, according to Vuyo they had a job in Johannesburg that they had to hurry off to. Thereafter a message was sent to my cell phone requesting that I rate Phahama Project on their completion of their job, obviously I was confused by this, i then called Standard Bank Insurance. After calling Phahama Projects, the Standard Bank Insurance consultant said that it was a human error on Phahama Projects side.
Phahama Projects requested to come complete their job on Monday the 08th August but i was not available and i requested they come early Wednesday morning, Vuyo rep**** that she is only able to come after lunch on Wednesday but was unable to give me a proper time. I did explain to her that I have to know the time so that i can make myself available and she still refused to give me the time. I then called Standard Bank and asked a consultant to request and she refused the consultant as well. I like to make mention without going into details that the jobs left unfinished is all due to the Phahama Projects *********** employees and it would be helpful if Vuyo was more accomdating.
On the 10 August i asked a Standard Bank consultant to request for an assessor to come view the plumbing together with Phahama Projects incompleted jobs and then get a new contractor to complete the job, an email request was sent to the relevant people. By Friday 12th of August there was still no reply to that email request. I called Standardbank again, Consultant Plesa Molebatsi said that a job card was created and was already received by the assessor (Themba Sehlangu), when contacted the assessor said that he will get back to me by the end of the day, which he did not.
This claim has been ongoing for almost four months and my house looks like a mess. Please can someone assist me.
