Standard Bank Insurance - A Tale of Negligence and Incompetence
I am writing this review out of sheer frustration and disappointment in the egregious service provided by Standard Bank Insurance. A company that we have entrusted with our hard-earned money and, more importantly, the protection of our home.
Eight days ago, our property suffered substantial damage due to a severe hail storm in Sandton. A quater of roof tiles were destroyed, gutters were broken, solar panels wrecked, ceilings are now sagging, and the electric fence is in tatters. The structural damages are serious and require immediate attention. The gravity of our situation is as clear as daylight, yet it seems invisible to Standard Bank Insurance.
We lodged a claim immediately after the incident, hoping for a swift and professional response. However, today marks the eighth day of silence, indifference, and utter incompetence on Standard Banks part. Not a single soul from Standard Bank has stepped foot on our property to assess the damage, nor have we received a single email or phone call. A few service providers have been to quote on repairs, but that has been as far as we got.
The internal assessor seems to be in a perpetual state of inaction. Each day we call, we are met with the same rehe****d response, "the internal assessment has not been completed". But the question lingers, when will it be done? When our house collapses?
The assessor who should have been our point of contact, has shown a total lack of professionalism. We have heard not a peep from her since we lodged the claim. Such neglect is not something we expected from Standard Bank.
We have been dutiful in paying our hefty monthly premiums, believing in the promise of protection and security. But when the time came to uphold their end of the deal, Standard Bank Insurance has left us high and dry. Standard Bank seems more interested in collecting premiums than providing the service and insurance they are obligated to deliver.
The level of service we have received is not just disappointing, it's downright appalling. We have been treated as an inconvenience rather than valued customers. This is not just poor service, it is a complete disregard for the trust and faith we put into Standard Bank Insurance.
At a time when we should be focusing on rebuilding, we are instead battling with an insurance company that seems to have forgotten the meaning of the word 'service and insurance’.
