On 20 December 2021 a pipe failure/leaking caused water leaking from my bathroom's wall. I phoned the Insurance and registered a claim. After registering the claim the lady informed me that there is no service provider near Lydenburg (where we live) and that I have to get a suitable plumber to do the job. The plumber assisted immediately, because I had a house full of people and no bathroom to use. Upon inspection of the water damage in the adjacent room, it was decided to try and identify the leak and where the water was coming from. Wall tiles were removed in the bathroom, and it was discovered that a water pipe had started to leak, had been leaking slowly for quite a while, the pipe was identified as the piping coming from the geyser in the roof, feeding the wash basin. The pipe in question is a 22 copper feed pipe. As mentioned wall tiles had to be removed, the repair was safely completed, unfortunately the tiles could not be matched, as they have been discontinued, and the water damage in the adjacent room has too be sanded, wall needs to be treated and re-painted, unfortunately the whole room would need to be redecorated. Since 20 December 2020, I've received no money regarding the claim from Standard Bank Insurance. The damage report, pictures and itemized invoice has been send numerous times, still no payment from Standard Bank Insurance. It is 4 months now and after paying my insurance premium every month, I get no feedback from them.
