STANDARD BANK HOME INSURANCE IS IT WORTH IT ? SHOP AROUND

I have been a Standard Bank customer for many years i have my bank accounts with them my bond is with them including my home insurance which you take out when you obtain a bond i have been paying my home insurance contributions every year since 1991 when we bought our home thats 28 years of insurance payments with just one claim for a hail damaged patio this weekend we had to make our second claim in 28 years as our geyser burst we called the 24 hour hotline and got an immediate response we were given a claim number and the very next day a plumber arrived and fitted a new geyser all wonderful until this point however once the new geyser was fitted we found that we no longer have any water pressure we cant run the hot water taps in the bathroom the water is a trickle and the shower is worse it is a dribble we called the plumber who said it is probably filters and he sent his people back to check now they tell us that it is our pipes that are old and they need to be replaced how can this be ? we had no problems with the water flow with the boiler that burst if we had we would have had it sorted out so with the geyser installation only a day old we called Standard Bank insurance to ask them what next to which the consultant told us the policy does not cover the pipes even though the policy states that pipes are covered for the first claim i guess now our only course of action is to spend hours on the phone escalating the problem at Standard Bank to try to get a resolution or to take this to the short term ombudsman what is the point of paying 28 years of premiums to be left in this position ? ..we are just totally fed up with a bank we have been with for over 30 years
