Standard Bank credit life - you are just a number

I have a policy for over 15 years with standard bank. To date no claims were made. I spoke to customer services today when I noticed that on the refinancing of my home, an installment of more than 4 times the quoted amount was loaded to be debited in couple of days. When I asked why this is I was told that it changes based on age etc. Mind you I signed for this quotation in October (less than 2 months ago). I explained that I cannot afford the cover and that my bond will bounce if they insist on taking this amount. I told them that this was not explained to me upon taking out the policy and was politely told, you signed for it so you must pay it. It made me more sad than angry that this would be their response to a customer who has to date never claimed and have always paid installments. I would not recommend them to anyone ever again. To think that for years they have taken money and refuse to even meet a client halfway when still no claims are being made is clear evidence that money is valued over clients and I will most likely have an even more discouraging service should there ever be a need to claim. This is one of those "fine print" companies who know how to legally take money even when you cannot afford it for a product that most likely will never be claimed from. If you wnat to feel like a valued client DO NOT USE THEM.
