Standard ********* Bank

Recently after the storm we experienced, I noticed that my gate motor was malfunctioning, working on and off. Then a few weeks ago in the evening it totally stopped working so I lodged a claim the same evening with Standard Bank under Building Insurance. I emphasized the importance ofnhaving it attended to urgently seeing that it is a security risk.

Tuesday a service provider was appointed by the bank and was sent to compile a report etc. I explained what I observed and he then informed me he will submit his report and I must follow up with the bank which I did but this when my nightmare began.

Using my cellular phone and making hundreds of calls but with no help from any consultant even to get hold of my handler, Lindo, was like contacting Mr Ramaphosa, impossible. Even leaving a number of please call me back but all had fallen on deaf ears. I spoke to several consultants but all in vain also requested for a team leader or manger to call me back was in vain. NO ONE CARED. Eventually on a Friday I called the bank again and speaking not to my handler but a consultant who informed me that my claim was rejected. I asked obviously for a reason, I was told that the internal assessor found that I had not repaired my motor from last year October to date and by the way that claim in October was rejected. I then askes how does he know I did not repair the motor or how did he come to this conclusion. I further asked what evidence and or proof that he has that I did not repair that motor in October. I further stated that is the internal assessor and bank saying to me that I left the gate motor unrepaired for about 7 months without providing me with evidence that I did so. I said this would make no sense because my family and my assests would be left vulnerable. I received no reply or explanation has to how the bank came to this conclusion but I assume its obviously they do not want to honor the claim which is legitimate.

I requested yet again for me to speak to a team leader or manager but to date I have not received a call from the bank.

My advice to all is if you have building insurance with Standard Bank, please, please reconsider and if youre considering taking out insurance, please, please, do not with Standard Bank. They will find every reason even make up ones so that they do not honor your claim. They ensure they collect the premium for a service offered but the irony is that you will never receive the service that you are paying for. You have at the bank a well trained oil machine that is unprofessional and that will frustrate you until you give up. They are trained so well that they will lie and cheat you at every claim submitted, no ethics or morals.
