Power surge not covered by Home Owners Insurance

<p>We had a power surge subject to a ****** cable, all the responsibility of the Ekurhuleni as the power box was not locked. I have substancial damage subject to the power surge. Now Standard Bank Home Owners Insurance says they do not cover power surges. So why do I pay Home Insurance?</p>
