Plastic water tank claim rejected due to wear and tear.

I am highly dissapointed with standard bank insurance, if I could I would rate them a 0. I lodged a claim for my water tank on my plot that started leaking. They then got one of their service providers to come and look at the tank. The person that came where a normal plumber with little to no experience with water tanks. Now STI tells me it is wear and tear and they will not replace the tank. I then lodged a complain against the decision, I then waited almost 17 working days, and only after I queried about the delay I received a second claim rejection. So I ask them to send me a report as to how it was determined that it is wear and tear and in one of the replies I was told that I must get my own service provider to give them a report disproving wear and tear. Now I can get my own service provider but I know out of experience they will tel me that they do not accept their report as it is not a provider registered with them, as I had it happend when I had a claim for my borehole pump a couple of years ago.

I believe that STI only use the excuse of wear and tear as they do not want to pay and it is the easiest excuse with the wides scope to use. What al so bugs me is that they did not send me an actual report of how the damage is wear and tear, all I received was a couple of grainy pictures which only show the water spraying but no clear view of the actual damage attached to an email stating they rejecting the complaint.

The reason I asked them for their report is that I cannot see how a plastic tank can suffer from wear and tear, as it cannot rust as it is made of plastic. I do not believe that mice, rats or any other creatures would have chewed through the tank as I think they would rather chew the pipes which is easily accessible closer to ground level than the tank that is about 10 meters above ground. Yes the sun can burn the tank brittle but the leak is on the bottom and south side of the tank which gets little sunlight even in high summer.

As I said at the beginning I'm highly dissapointed as they want your money every month but when there's a claim they 80% of the time will reject it and 95% of those will die to wear and tear.

Now I've experienced everything from Stadard Bank Insurance. It hasn't barely been a week since they rejected my complaint about the my claim that was rejected and they have the ordassity to phone me and tell me that I qualify for some additional Insurance. Now I am sure that all they are interested in is taking my money.

It's been more than two weeks since I placed my review after which I got only one response from standard bank Insurance, which I believe to be a automated response. The response said that I'll be contacted but the only contact I had was one of their agents trying to sell me more insurance. As I started to wonder what is happening I decided to have a look at what replies I can see on some of the other complaints I went back as far as the beginning of October and couldn't see any that showed signs of been taken further. I now believe that SBI is only playing for time as they hope we will simply give up or forget about the complaint. But I will not give up I will take it as far as possible and from now on I will be reviewing them weekly maybe more till I get a response.

Just received an email from SBI problem is it is the same person that emailed me before not a resolution specialist that where supposed to be assigned according to the original response. All this person did is to resend me a previous email I requested a copy of the report they received from their supplier and if I do not receive it I will take it as proof that SBI is trying to hide the informatio it contains from me and will inform the Ombudsman if this fact when I contact them.
