Ongoing Delays and Incomplete Repairs – Request for Urgent Intervention

I am writing this complaint with deep frustration, but also in the hope that Standard Bank Home Loans will take accountability and assist in resolving the outstanding issues on my property without further delay.

Following a break-in at my home, two insurance claims were submitted due to the significant water damage caused by a tampered geyser. While I appreciate that Standard Bank appointed contractors who completed some work – including carpentry, painting, and initial repairs – the process has been unnecessarily prolonged, and I am now left with several unresolved and poorly handled issues.

Crucial plumbing and electrical repairs were not only delayed, but remain incomplete. Specifically:

The bathroom and passage ceilings were installed without drilling access points for electrical connections, which were overlooked entirely.

Leaking kitchen taps and poorly fitted pipes have yet to be addressed.

A hole between the bathroom and bedroom remains exposed.

The toilet installation was not cemented in place.

The leaking ceiling was merely painted over, rather than being properly repaired.

Despite ongoing communication and a written appeal to your department in April 2025, I have yet to receive a proper resolution. I have tried to be patient, but this process has caused prolonged inconvenience, discomfort, and concern for the safety and functionality of my home.

At this stage, I respectfully request that an assessor be dispatched to evaluate the quality and completeness of the work, and that the remaining issues be resolved with urgency. I am not asking for anything beyond what was approved – I simply want the job to be completed properly and in line with the standard expected from an institution like Standard Bank.

I remain hopeful that this matter can be resolved swiftly and professionally.
