No response to complaints Claim no: 17/099184

Claim no: 17/099184 On the 11th of January 2018, Nkwaana SS Projects were sent to our home to repair damages caused by leaks due to the rain. They were supposed to replace ceilings in all three bedrooms, paint the new ceilings and walls as well as replace the roof tiles that were broken.

These contractors took no care when completing their work, I understand that with a job such as this there will be a fair degree of mess and dust, however care should still be taken. They got paint on my carpets in all three bedrooms, which they attempted with no success, to wipe clean when I pointed it out, They got paint on my bedroom curtains as well as my curtain rod. in addition some of my NEW curtain rod brackets were broken. My bed had also been damaged. The middle support beam of the wooden base had been ripped from the frame, which goes to show that they did not take care when moving the bed.

With regards to the roof tiles, instead of replacing them, the contractor simply painted waterproofing over the tile. My neighbour then supp**** some of his spare roof tiles to actually replace the broken tiles and fix it properly.

Whilst the contractors were busy we discovered a small leak from a Pipe, which I was then told would be sorted out.

The next evening my Husband and I came home and discovered our newly replaced ceiling dripping with water, and our carpet wet and damaged. We then had to phone the insurance again and pay ANOTHER excess for the plumber to come sort this issue out. The plumber found that one of the pipes had been wrapped with a plastic bread packet!!! Which I know was not there before Nkwaana SS Projects completed their work, as I had taken photos before they put the new ceilings up.

We have a four month old baby, and all of this has been one massive inconvenience to us!

I have submitted complaints on Standard Bank's Insurance online platform, I have emailed the Insurance department and both my husband and I have been on the phone waiting for a consultant to answer. I am a teacher and cannot spend over half an hour on the phone waiting for a consultant to pick up. I am hoping that by using this platform we will get a response, so we can get this issue sorted out.

Reviewer Update
This issue has still not been fully resolved yet. We are still waiting for our water damaged floor to be repaired. On the 9th of February Apple Floors were appointed to us by Standard Bank Insurance. They came to do an assessment and then arranged for a suitable date to do the repairs. They have not arrived on the three occasions that were arranged. The first time they said that due to the rain they could not get to my house, as they did not have a canopy on their vehicle. They were supposed to come the following day, but again never arrived. They never communicated with us, both instances my husband had to phone to find out what was happening. Upon phoning them, they informed us that their one machine was going in for repairs and then arranged ANOTHER date for them to come ( 3April) again no one arrived and we had to phone them to find out why. We were told that the machine had not yet come back. This service is absolutely disgusting! My husband has had to take time off work for them to do the repairs, only for them to not pitch. I sent an email on the 3rd of April to both Apple Floors as well as as the Standard Bank Insurance representative handling the original complaint. I have yet to receive feedback. This is completely unacceptable and has been dragging on for far too long now. I need this issue resolved urgently.
