No progress on claim in almost a month

I lodged a building claim with standard bank on 11th of November, the assessors came on the 15th and assessed the wall needing repair that was damaged due to a prowler attempting to ***** items from my yard.

After the assessor came, I get an sms every 2 days saying they are coming to asses, I called them and they said their side is done its with Standard Bank now.

I lodged a complaint using the online portal(Before it was changed) around the 25th of November and have not heard ANY feedback to date.

With building companies closing within 2 weeks, sitting with a security issue without any feedback from standard bank is concerning.

I sat for 10 minutes on their call center line and no one answers.

This is utterly disappointing behavior from Standard Bank Insurance, however re-affirms why I stopped banking with them years ago and just do insurance and my home loan via them.

Seems Standard bank as a company just wants to fizzle out and doesnt care for their customers.

The outcome of this claim further shows how terrible SB's insurance systems are. Eventually the builders were put in contact with me to arrange a date to come do the work. Strange though, I had not seen a single report back or the findings of the assessment, and the subsequent quote to see if there is excess and arrange a time when I can pay. Instead the builders were sent directly to us to do the work. Afterwards I get a communication from them that I owe them the excess. Strange as I had 1. Not been informed of the excess prior to the work starting and 2. Had received 0 comms on approval of claim 3. or comms on what the assessor determined the cause was

This therefore bypassed the normal process of me being able to evaluate whether I should get the wall fixed myself or continue with the insurance claim. As well as dispute the findings, as I have photographic evidence showing the wall was damaged by a persons attempting to ***** items from my property, and their excessive load on the wall caused it to collapse, however I sit with a Standard Bank job card that just indicates "Storm Damage", even though the claim was specifically put through as "Other" as we were not sure what caused the damage initially.

The irony of this, is in order to stop the foreman from getting fired from his job as he was made responsible to get the payment from me, I had to spend money that is part of my bond debit order to pay them. That bond is with standard bank. So this incompetence of standard bank insurance will result in a R10k shortfall on their revenue collection this month on my bond.

A sarcastic Well done to Standard Bank, truly terrible service provided. Need to pull your socks up.
