No claims related to any power issue period, although ABSA will cover you

Note to anyone reading as I found out the hard way. STANDARD BANK STRUCTURAL DOES NOT COVER ANY DAMAGE RELATED TO POWER ISSUES PERIOD BUT ABSA WILL. We had 400 volts go through our lines. It burnt our Oven, Stove and Microwave. It affected our whole neighborhood. These items are fixed and you need to claim via the structural insurance. Trying to claim via standard bank structural, the claim was refused acknowledged as they do not pay any damage related to power. This wasn't a surge or load shedding. There was an issue when fixing the power and 400v according to the electrician was sent through the lines for hours. Even the street lights burnt but to standard bank wont cover you. You pay insurance to be covered but this company doesn't acknowledge a power issue yet ABSA openly on their website would have covered this issue. I advise anyone to move away from standard bank insurance. If this issue burnt down your house, they will not cover you. Right now I have to take a 50k lose on items that should have been covered. Going forward I will move my bond, car finance, business and personal accounts away from Standard Bank. You rather support the others who at least cover you. I understand not paying for load shedding damage but this was not that and now the customer has to suffer. Even Santam offers cover.

No help from Standard bank. I just waited more than 8 days to hear what they told me. I advise everyone to move away from Standard Bank to Absa or any bank that covers power surges. As i said originally my whole neighborhood was affected by something which is not a power surge but sneaky Standard bank blanket covers themselves not to pay for any power issues. If Standard bank doesn't cover power surges, which means if your house burns down with a surge they won't cover it, we should not support Standard bank. Its easy to move your structural insurance so rather be with a company that cover power surges. I paid the price so others can learn and i will make sure everyone knows
