We lodged a claim for a water leak at home. Standard Bank Insurance assured us that we would only need to pay 1 excess to the plumber. The plumber comes over and uses his gadgets to determine where the leak is. Based on this, they dig up the tar in our carport only to realize that the leak was never there but outside on the water meter. We raised this with a consultant who assured us that we still need to pay the excess to the plumber, and they will sort out the situation with the carport but now we are told that we need to pay a second excess to the building contractor to repair the damages done under our carport even though the damage was done by the plumber. Why should we have to pay an additional excess when the plumber clearly didn't diagnose the issue in the correct spot resulting in unnecessary digging of tar and now we have to fit the bill for the second excess in order for this to be repaired?? Standard Bank where are you finding these *********** service providers?? Standard Bank needs to fix this as we would not be paying any excess for damage that was caused by plumbers which you outsource.
