I have two properties, of which one is insured by Standard Bank. I claimed a borehole pump that was stricken by lightning. To say the least, I am very upset with them. They know absolutely nothing about pumps. They have sent out a guy, that claimed, it was corrosion WHICH IS NOT TRUE! We are Armature Winders ourselves for the past 23 years. ( We ARE EXPERTS IN FAULT FINDING ON PUMPS. WE DO THIS WORK FOREVER). When they could not get away with their original bollie story, they then came with a second excuse by saying, the pump was not insured (ALSO NOT TRUE)! My opinion is, THEY DID NOT WANT TO PAY OUT, but they never refused our years and years of installments. I took out a new (2nd) policy from Santam where my home property is insured BECAUSE I TRUST THEM. I never had any bull-dust stories from Santam because they are REAL INSURERS. I immediately cancelled my Standard Bank policy because I lost trust in them, being honest in the future. The best part is, I got a much better deal from Santam, with a R255.00p.m. lower monthly installment.
