Let me start by saying “STANDARD BANK INSURANCE…LOL”

Let me start by saying “STANDARD BANK INSURANCE…LOL”

After the heavy rains in July in KZN I had some damage to my home which has structure and storm damage insurance from Standard bank which is mandatory when purchasing a home under loan agreements. I lodged a claim with them and took them a month to decline everything damaged by storm, with loop hole excuses and reasons that my wall is not the correct thickness and my roof I must maintain and my floor tiles that cheap grouting was used and so on but all these were caused by a storm and not overtime and incorrect maintenance. The lady who called thought we were talking about the tiles on the roof and giving me reasons why they not covering I had to say it was floor tiles in my lounge so her reason for not covering quickly changed to cheap grouting was used, lol!
Now if my wall is too thin and cheap grouting used why wasn’t all this findings when they inspected the house before I purchased? And should have been covered adequately in the insurance.
All I was told is that all cost is for myself and I must maintain, its like they disregarded the storm and the amount of claims lodged for storm damages, wonder what the other claimants got for poor excuses.

The damages caused I will not maintain and allow the value of the property to depreciate as the bank doesn’t care(so if the bank reclaims the home it will be at a lower value), why should I!

If that’s the case and insurance doesn’t cover for storm damage, I would cancel my insurance if I could and maintain the home on my cost. I will only lodge a new claim if the house falls on my head maybe they will cover but highly unlikely.

What a loser product that wastes my money!

I am still waiting for this so called "resolution specialist" to contact me... are they on a permanent holiday?

No matter I submitted via attorneys for a re-look at my claim and waited 30 days with no reply. This matter has been going on from July 2016, what is important to your clients is definelty not important to you. Well last resort is the Ombudsman. Looking forward to being a client of Standard Bank in the new year, "NOT"!!!
