Legitimate claim - Rejected by unprofessional and flawed service.

After the heavy storm we had over the beginning of December my garage roof decided it didnt want to roof anymore. The rains flooded my garage, living room and destroyed a carpet in my main bedroom. I contacted Standard Bank Insurance that Sunday and on Monday the sub contractors came out to take photo and submit the claim. They mentioned to me that the roof will need one of two options, new water proofing as it failed, or a new roof completely, absolutely daunting as we had only been in this property for 3 nights. I received feedback from Standard Bank Insurance saying that they will not cover the damage as there was no maintenance done to the garage beforehand, which i thought was odd as the claim was for storm damage, apparently with storm damage, water damage is not covered??? Only physical failure of the components would be covered ie, tree falling through garage roof. I was contacted by a guy via phone call and told that they would not cover my claim for reasons that make no sense. They didnt even consider the storm water that buckled the roof and allowed water to pour into my garage. They blamed the *****s holding the roof to the beams, claiming wear and tear. After this i contacted the sub contractor and he was shocked to hear that my claim was rejected as it was plain as day that the storm caused my roof to fail.

I disputed the rejection and sent photos from that night, I just received a notice saying that my dispute was rejected and they hold their ground on the verdict. Again falling back to the *****s and lack of maintenance by the previous owner ( I moved in on the 3rd, storm happened on the 5th December)

I cant for the life of me recommend Standard Bank Insurance to anyone after the disrespectful manner that they handled this claim. Their insurance is cheap and iv found out the reason why, they pay someone to reject legitimate claims. Im now stuck with a situation that if it rains or storms, my garage, living room and main bedroom WILL flood and the people that are meant to help with these damages cant be asked to put the work in. Disgusting service, flawed service and absolutely no common sense in this entire department.
