Late estate account query

My dad had a standard bank account and credit card. He had credit life insurance with the bank. In September 2014 he passed on and Standard bank processed funeral policy payment. I had to open a late estate business account and was notified that since he had credit life insurance that will settle the balance owing on credit card.<br> <br> Today I received a summon from the lawyers stating that I should make payment within 10 days. On enquiry with the bank, I was informed that they were not aware the he is deceased and only processed a claim today that will take weeks to be finalised. How can the same bank that processed funeral policy, opened late estate account and instituted legal action on outstanding debt/ collection on the debt that they did not settle.
