insurance

When we bought our house 5 years ago we were told it is compusary to take out insurance on the propery to cover structural and unforseen events, Of course we took it to cover ourselves as much as possible, However 3 weeks ago the tiles in my dinning room/kitchen started to crack and lift off the floor due to extreme weather conditions and has thus spread throughout my entire house, I therefor got hold of Standard bank insurers to explain what had happened and to process a claim, however the lady in the call centre first told me they only cover geyer damage and did not have any clue as to what i was saying to her. So i went into the bank to ask the branch manager for advice hoping i would get some professional help however all she did was put me back onto the call centre and the guy then told me they only cover water damage and he does not know how it is possible. what i am telling him happened and he had never heard of such a thing, I then lodge a complaint to there complaints department and the lady then explained to me there has to be an event but still could not tell me WHAT IS AN EVENT???? i still had no answer and was told my case to be would be sent to the management board meeting on Friday afternoon, so i therefor had an engineer and Tile expert look into the matter and both came back stating this was very common and was due to the extreme heat and cold weather P.E had been experiencing over the last 2 or 3 weeks thus making the tiles expand and contract to quicly causing them to crack and pop off the floor and therefor should be under standard banks "EVENT" catagory in there personal opinion. after thursday the following week i still had not heard anything back from the management meeting and had to email to hear the outcome, Standard bank has the worst customer service i have experienced in a long time and all i was told -- declined without any explination? I asked to have management contarct me to explain but a week later still no call. the worst customer service i have ever experienced and i am now taking my case furthur to get a proper explination as to why i will not be covered under my insurance policy.
