INCOMPETANT AND POOR SERVICE
We reported a burst leaking water pipe last week Tuesday, the claims centre took our call and initially they did not log our claim, we had to phone them again to log our claim. They then sent a claim number. A local unqualified plumbing contractor whose work needs a lot to be desired then contacted us and tried to coerce us into allowing them to attend to this leak and insisted that they alone have been tasked to attend to this call. We informed them that we had already contacted a qualified and competent plumber and that we do not require thier services. They continually harassed us to attend to his call, very desperate! The plumber we called has since determined that the pipes would need to be re-routed which I agreed (for the record I am a licenced plumbing contractor myself) Standard Bank then insisted that a second plumber from Pietermaritzburg come and locate the leak, Which they did on Friday last week. Standard Bank Insurance now say that they are going to hack open our walls and floors in order to repair this pipe whereas re-routing the pipe will be easier and less intrusive and less dusty and in my opinion does not make sense as the bathroom and laundry areas are tiled and would need to be complete re-tiled as these tiles are no longer available and which is going to be at an exhorbitant cost - TO WHO. My whole house is tiled with the same tile and I will not allow them to seek a matching or nearest matching tile therefore my whole house would need to be re-tiled. In the meantime while these *********** consultants are dilly-dallying we are losing 5 000-7 000 liters of water per day and which is seeping into the foundations. WHO IS GOING TO PAY for this water loss. The problem is that the plumber who's services I rejected has a family member or members who work in Standard Bank Insurance head office and I believe that we are been black balled by them.
