How long do I wait for my front door to be repaired?

My house was broken into 3 weeks ago. The assessor arrived a few days later and I am still waiting. Must we leave the house open for the burglars to help themselves to what they didn't manage to ***** the last time? I have phoned the insurance department and each time I am assured the appointed contractor will contact me. Well, it hasn't happened yet!
