Hopefully Moving Forward from this issue soon!!!!!!

I am very disappointed with the service from Standard Bank Insurance but upon looking at social media it seems to be the norm. I reported a leaking geyser on 7 November 2016 (Ref: 16/088766) and to date have no hot water at home. B & S plumbers were sent to come and assess the geyser the same day. After assessing they informed my husband that they don't have stock of the geyser (solar/electric) and would have to wait 3-5 weeks to get it, which was too long for us so to wait and we advised them.B & S plumbers said they would contact the insurance and inform them.

Between my husband and I, we contacted SBI everyday since then and every day we were told they were waiting for a claim report from B&S plumbers. On Friday when my husband called them they informed us that they were going to make a cash settlement in 3-5 days and we need to get our own plumber and pay whatever extra costs occur outside the settlement amount. The amount is so low that it does not even cover half the cost of a new geyser similar to the geyser we have let alone extra costs. My husband informed them that we did not agree to take a cash settlement and he would like to know what the claim report said.

He was told the claim report was for a standard 150l geyser (which we dont have) so he asked for a copy of the report as it does not seem to have the correct details and was told they cannot disclose that information after already revealing a discrepancy. Seeing as Standard Bank is such a large bank it baffles me that they only have one plumber contracted to them. Surely when the plumber assesses the geyser he needs to provide proof of the type of geyser we have with serial numbers or photographic evidence.....if we are not allowed to see the claim form how do we know the right information was supp****. At this point we were so furious that we said we are willing to take the standard 150l geyser and will pay the excess fee just to end all of this and we were told they would contact us before the day ends.....it is now Tuesday 15 November and we have received no feedback what so ever!!!!!
