Hidden Excess Fees
I made a claim in February after a hit & run with a truck happened, all went well, they paid out and my car got fixed. When it got to the excess amount, I had knowledge of a certain amount that I was told about before accepting to be with Standard Bank insurance by the consultant/underwriter. Only to be told about an additional R2 000 to my excess for having a code 10 license, I honestly would have not agreed to sign up with Standard Bank Insurance had I known that I am being "punished" for simply having a code 10 license. I queried this, was told by the consultant in charge of my claim, Refiloe Bawela they can pull up recordings of that conversation we had with the consultant when I joined the insurance and should they find out I wasn't initially told then about the additional excess I would be exempt from it and they will pay it, regardless of it being stated in my policy document. I only received my policy document after accepting the information I was told firsthand, so I accepted that excess amount, not knowing there's additional hidden amounts. I have called and sent emails to Refiloe on a follow up, I have even fetched my car and paid out this excess because I had nowhere to claim for it as it was a hit and run, everytime I get told they'll call me back but they never do. This is alot of money especially in this economy, I feel like an idiot for being ignored and taken from pillar to post. Firstly my premium is sky high, now this? It's like they making me suffer for even owning a car at this point!! I need the recordings and if it does turn out I was never told (which I'm sure of) then I expect to be paid back this R2 000. I'll gladly cancel my account with them as well, I've had enough.
