DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY
If I could put a ZERO star I would.
My gate and garage door were forced open in attempt to gain entry into my property and house on the night of 10 FEBRUARY 2024, as per incident report OB/704/02/2024.
I have been a loyal standard bank client since 2017, Mortgage loan as well as insurance and banking account.
I have never claimed from Standard Bank insurance and the one time I do, its rejected due to "wear and tear".
When a property with some age and bruises suffers any peril, the caused by language cannot be overlooked. That property invariably had some wear and tear before the incident impacted the property. This is very common. The condition of any property is likely not brand new. But this condition of the property did not cause the property to be damaged. The incident of forced entry caused the damage. Does this mean there is no point in insuring with Standard bank as they will only approve the claim if the items are brand new? Then what is the point?
Furthermore, in my email of appeal to the rejection of the claim. In my first paragraph, I requested (for the second time) that the previous owners details are removed from their system as I have been the sole owner since 2020.
The fact that Standard Banks rejection to my appeal was STILL addressed to the previous owner, is mere proof that Standard bank DID NOT EVEN READ the FIRST PARAGRAPH of my appeal email.
FURTHERMORE, in their rejection to the appeal , they mention that there was no sign of forceful entry to the property. Sorry, I will ask the ******s to do a better job next time! There was signs of forced entry when I got home to an open gate and garage.
Both gate and garage were in 100% working order prior the incident, wear and tear is NOT the cause OF DAMAGE.
Due to this unfortunate experience with standard bank, I will be obtaining other insurance quotes. I will also be looking at switching my home loan to another bank.
Do yourself a favour and do not go with standard bank insurance. They will find any excuse to not approve a claim.
AND FURTHER, don’t even bother appealing a rejection to a claim, because they clearly DONT EVEN READ THE FIRST PARAGRAPH.
