DO NOT use Standard Bank Insurance
My wife took out fully comprehensive insurance for her Jeep in 2017, never missed a payment and had a claim in 2018 after a car crashed into the rear of her Jeep at a robot. Damage was R47,000 claimed and repaired. Received notification via email that due to her adverse claims experience Standard Bank Insurance cancelled the insurance with 30 days notice!!!! i.e. do not take car insurance with Standard Bank Insurance, as even if a claim is not due to your fault, they will probably cancel the policy based on the claim value by email with no follow up (talk about bad Customer Service or in this case the complete lack of).

12 Mar 2019, 09:14Had a reply from Standard Bank - they again rep**** by email, no call? Advised they had initially tried to call whilst we were outside the country over festive season to tell us they were cancelling the insurance, but no message left ?
They now consider my complaint closed on their side, with no valid reason for the cancelling comprehensive insurance after 18 months, besides advising that after reviewing the only claim on the contract (which was about 10% of car value and not due to our fault), we are considered too risky ?? FYI I received in December a large 'no claim bonus' from Outsurance into my bank account ! But Standard Bank believe we are too risky.
So again, bottom line, if you value customer service and expect your insurer to provide continuous cover for your car, highly recommend you steer clear of Standard Bank Insurance.
As for us, we are doing what we should have done in the first place, insuring with a reliable insurer - in our case Outsurance, and we now consider the issue closed. We are now also looking to move all our Standard Bank accounts.
