DISINGENOUS SERVICE AND APATHY. NO CARE
Following an extreme wind storm which was accompanied by 78mm of rain in an hour, two large trees were blown over on our property. This caused damage primarily to our front wall. The promised assistance in the form of a builder never materialised and eventually another builder provided a quote. Following notification to Standard Insurance of the situation we had to wait for another three or so weeks for an assessor. Despite having advised of the collapsed trees at the outset, no mention was made that the insurance would cover their removal. This I did with the aid of casual labour over two days. Despite the considerable damage to the wall the assessor reduced the repair quote based on a Google map picture of some 8 years previously! We decided to accept the tendered loss offer and included the cost of the chain saw hire (which I was told would be paid in lieu of the tree removal). No response. On following up a week later i was told that they were not going to pay for the chainsaw. Asked to speak to supervisor. No response despite having been assured that she would call. GRIPES: 1. TARDY SERVICE - LACK OF RESPONSE, DELAYS AND NOT KEEPING TO UNDERTAKINGS. 2. DISINGENUITY - DESPITE BEING TOLD THAT TREES HAD FALLEN, NO OFFER OF ASSISTANCE IN REMOVING. 3. REDUCING COSTS OF REPAIR BASED ON FAULTY PREMISE. 4. TOTAL LACK OF SERVICE CULTURE.
